Meet Sally a retired Family and Consumer Science Teacher. She has been sewing for sixty plus years. Sally started by hand sewing more clothes for her Barbie doll. Her first machine sewing projects were putting together upholstery kits for her father’s restored old cars using a treadle sewing machine. Besides upholstery, Sally has sewn numerous quilts, dozens of clothing items, costumes, home décor, and utility items, plus a mainsail for her husband’s sailboat. 

Sally has taught for over 25 years at middle and high school, college level, and adult education classes. In addition to in-person classes, she has taught online classes as private sessions and as part of the virtual quilt shows. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and watching the students gain confidence as they complete a project. 

Sally has won awards and honors at the New York State Fair for freehand embroidery, red work, and crochet. She won the CNY Arts award for fiber arts and had her piece displayed at the Everson Museum. Sally earned a Certificate of Achievement with a winning Quilter’s Trek quilt. She is also an active member of Plank Road Quilt Guild and QCNYS (Quilters Consortium of New York State).

Sally designs sewing and quilting patterns including unique patterns such as both a folk and electric guitar cross body tote bags. In addition, she creates knitting and crocheting patterns and products. She is also the owner of Sally’s Emporium, an online/vending needlecraft business.

Sally is especially enthusiastic about Legit Kits, renowned for their vibrant, foundation paper pieced designs. Sally plans to bring these stunning kits to life through workshops, by offering clear instruction, personal support, and a contagious enthusiasm while meeting the student where the student is at, “one stitch at a time.”
